On August 30, 2021, at 21:57, the CNPC Dushanzi Petrochemical Tarim Ethane-to-Ethylene Project achieved successful first-time startup — a landmark achievement for China’s petrochemical industry. As a national demonstration project, it represents the country’s most advanced, low-carbon, and near-zero-emission intelligent ethylene production facility. With an annual capacity of 2 million tons, the project reduces production costs by 30% and sets new global benchmarks in key economic and technical indicators.

This project, located in southern Xinjiang, is not only the largest single investment by CNPC in the region but also a symbol of China’s self-reliance in core petrochemical technologies. It utilizes domestically developed ethane steam cracking technology, boosting ethylene yield from approximately 30% to over 80%, while significantly lowering emissions and energy consumption.
